Snowbasin in Huntsville, Utah is an arm’s length only15 minutes to the south.  Offering world class facilities including 2 gondolas, Olympic tram, high speed quad, X lifts and boasts amenities even more exquisite than its neighbors Deer Valley and Park City, world class resorts in their own right at an hour and fifteen minute drive.  Snowbasin hosted the 2002 Olympics and offers year around activities including skate skiing, alpine skiing, mountain biking, hiking and depending on the year, ice skating.  With a tantalizing menu, enjoy Sunday brunch, Easter brunch, or dinner at the resort either in Earl’s lodge or take a ride up the Gondola to the Needles lodge.  Summer evenings also offers a free concert series.  Events include the Xterra triathlon, Uphill Downhill, Para Olympics, Winter Xterra triathlon and ski races throughout the season.  There are rarely lines and on a powder day.  This is the place to be and at only 15 minutes from the door, there is no excuse to not be skiing.

Powder Mountain in Eden, Utah is well, your other arm’s length away.  As one of the nation’s largest ski resorts, Powder Mountain is one of the few remaining resorts relying only on Mother Nature for winter’s weightless gift.  Average annual snowfall is 500 inches per year and it is amazing champagne powder that will last for days after a storm.  One of the true old school ski areas, it is full of colorful personalities as it was a family ran business for years.  Snowcat skiing is available this year, heliskiing, kiteskiing, and backcountry to such destinations like James Peak fill the resort making it one of the most adventurous resorts in the state.  Powder Mountain is slowly transforming as old lifts are replaced and plans for new lodges are in the works but this ski resort boasts some of the best skiing in the nation and is regularly written up by the likes of Powder and Ski magazines.  At only 15 minutes away, let everyone else read about it while you ski it.

Wolf Creek Golf Resort features an 18 hole championship course and is planning to add an additional 18 holes in the near future.  Featuring restaurants, swimming pool, liquor store, driving range and a small ski area called Wolf Mountain it offers a great place to gather with friends for a round of golf or for après adventure gatherings.  Located only five minutes away in Eden, it is amazingly convenient.

Crimson Ridge is so close to Ogden but still in the mountains, situated 5 minutes from the top of Ogden Canyon the city is only 15 minutes away.  The city of Ogden is undergoing a renaissance including a possible gondola from downtown to a newly proposed ski resort and possibly connecting to Snowbasin.  Trains will begin running in the spring from Salt Lake City to the intermodal hub in Ogden.  The new Salamon Center has been completed and includes a flow rider wave (free standing surf wave), a wind tunnel for sky divining, Fat Catz bowling, glow in the dark golf, 13 screen Mega Plex theater, rock climbing wall and they are about to construct a free standing ice climbing wall.  The shops restaurants along Historic 25th Street are unique and eclectic and offer the charm only an old city could.  With state of the art hospitals such as McKay Dee Ogden offers a blend of history and technology that would be hard to match in most areas.  It makes is easy to live in the mountains when you know everything you could need is only a short drive away.

The view of Pineview Reservoir is so close it is almost touchable.  Situated directly across from the lake, it is easy to enjoy everything the water has to offer within a short walk.  The Yacht Club and boat ramps are just across the street and Crimson Ridge has kayaks and canoes for your enjoyment as well.  Enjoy water sports, fishing, and kite boarding just out the door.  With so much to do so close it will be hard to decide what adventure to have.
